Texas Fishing Trip

December 18th, 2009

Well, its that time of year again…Yes, the holidays and the season of buying gifts. If your loved one is an outdoorsman or woman, why not give them the gift of a guided fishing trip? In Texas there are great fishing charters along the coastal cities to choose from. If you are in the Houston area, check into Galveston Bay fishing guides. They are some great bay fishing spots for tracking down redfish and trout. There are also plenty of solid Deep Sea fishing guides in Freeport, which is not too far from the Houston area. If you are struggling with gift ideas, a guided trip is what your fisherman really wants!

Texas Coast Fishing

December 17th, 2009

Every now and then we like to give report on local fishing conditions using info from State parks and wildlife departments and local fishing guides. Today we are focusing on Texas and specifically, along the southern coast. Texas Coast fishing is solid this time of year with the cooler temperature.  Trout have been good in the Galveston area using topwaters and texas redfish have been good in the Rockport and Port Aransas areas on mullet and shrimp.  South Texas fishing has been fair to good lately with some good action near the South Padre Intracoastal. We advise using Texas fishing guides to really enjoy your Texas Bay fishing experience. They’ll put you on some big red and specks and are worth the fee.

Florida Keys Fishing

December 12th, 2009

If you are looking to go fishing in Florida,  I recommend looking at charters in the Keys.  The keys is known for great inshore and reef fishing. The best time to catch Tarpon or Permit is March through July.  Deep sea fishing is also really good in the keys.  Mahi-Mahi is best from April through July while Swordfish is best May through August. If you are looking to fish in the winter, the best time to catch grouper is November through March.

One of our favorite Florida fishing guides is down on Marathon Key which is pretty much in the middle keys. The charter name is Main Attraction Charters.  They can tailor a trip according to your preferences and also recommend the best trip for the time of year. Check them out the next time your are down there.

Fly Fishing Photos

October 29th, 2009

This site, Catch Magazine, has some of the coolest fly fishing photos I have seen on the web.  Contributors look to be talented freelancers who shoot in some great locations. I especially like their shots of  Caribbean fishing. They also have solid Montana fly fishing photos and some good ones of fishing in Alaska.  Makes me want to be on the water right now…

Decisions in Texas

September 18th, 2009

In the state of Texas, this is a weekend full of tough decisions. The Texas Longhorns play the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the capitol city of Austin. This is such a great rivalry and always a fun atmosphere to be around. In fact, ESPN gameday will be Austin for its game of the week show. For football fans, its well worth it to make the trip to Austin for this matchup. However, this is a great time for fishing down on the Texas coast as well.  According to reports down in Corpus Christi, the fishing is really good right now. Apparently, trout and redfish are biting down in rockport, port aransas, and laguna madre.  Good fishing or Good football, its a tough call. Heading down to the Texas coast for fishing might be the best plan. You can watch the game on tv since its a 7pm start time.

Fall in Alabama

September 11th, 2009

In Alabama, the season of fall means life returns to normal as football season is back. Whether its Roll Tide or War Eagle, football in the state of Alabama is serious business. Fall in Alabama also means some of the best fishing of the year. Cooler weather means great bass fishing on the lakes. Check out Lay Lake or Weiss Lake for some quality bass fishing. There are some great guides on the lakes who can get you on some serious bass. Saltwater fishing is also great in the fall down on the Gulf. Most prefer Orange Beach or Gulf Shores areas when fishing on the coast. Fall is great time to do some nearshore fishing for spanish mackerel. If you are looking to go further offshore, try bottom fishing for snapper or grouper or try your hand at deep sea fishing. Alabama fishing charters can take you 50 miles out to fish for Tuna, Marlin, Wahoo, or Mahi-Mahi. We have a variety of Alabama fishing guides that offer trips according to your specific trip desires. Check them out here.

Texas Redfishing

September 9th, 2009

Fishing for redfish in Texas is hard to beat. The waters down in the Gulf of Mexico are a perfect habitat for Reds and the numerous back bays and jetties are prime for fishing. Legislation several years ago banning commercial fishing for redfish helped tremendously. Because of this, the Texas Gulf attracts anglers from all over. Port Aransas fishing charters are some of the best to go with as this area is loaded with big redfish. Gavleston fishing charters are also a good option.  Don’t forget about South Padre fishing a little further south.  Plan a trip soon because fall is typically the best time to find redfish down on the Gulf.

Port Aransas Fishing

August 26th, 2009

Port Aransas is home to some great fishing in Texas. Many fisherman love to come down to this area for redfish and speckled trout.  I recommended hiring a good fishing guide to take you into the bays for redfish. You can catch some good size redfish back in the jettys and flats. A good Port Aransas fishing charter will provide equipment and know what  the fish have recently been biting on.  You can catch redfish throughout the year here, but we think June through October is the best time to go.

Port A is located about 3 hours southeast of San Anotnio and about a 3.5 hour drive southwest from Houston.  Southwest airlines flies daily into Chorpus Christi which is about a 30 mintue drive from Port Aransas. Plan a fishing trip in Port Aransas soon and experience world class fishing for redfish on the Texas coast.

Around the country in 50 days….

August 25th, 2009

I am going to start in Texas, my current residence because it boasts a ton of great fishing.  When  you think of Texas fishing, what pops in to your head? For me, its the fishing on the Gulf of Mexico.  Although, you will never hear the beaches on the Texas coast being hailed among the most beautiful in the world, you will find world class fishing. Texas fishing charters are located in Galveston, Freeport, Port Aransas, South Padre, and several other ports along the coast.  Galveston fishing charters are definitely worth looking into. The flats and jettys are great for catching redfish and speckled trout. Check out deep sea charters in Galveston as well. They can help you reel in shark and tarpon offshore.  Some argue that Port Aransas fishing is the best in Texas.  Port A has great jetties and channels to fish for Reds as well as charters that will take you offshore.  Port Aransas fishing charters can take you to the right spots to catch redfish and Specks.  Check out our texas fishing guides by clicking here.
